We frequently are asked why batteries fail, and how often batteries should be tested – and over the life of a battery, certain seasonal periods are harder on the internal components than others. As much as extreme cold can affect the life and durability of a battery, extreme heat can impair the inner workings of the battery as well, especially in our balmy Queensland summers.

Battery deterioration isn’t always obvious, as it happens quite gradually as well – and it is never convenient to have your battery give up on you in the middle of a hot day. Remember that it’s also probably hotter inside your car, and under the bonnet than it is outside in the open air.

Of course, just because your battery doesn’t fail in the summer doesn’t mean that you’re in the clear – internal warping, external corrosion and other factors can reduce battery efficiency and eventually kill the cell of a battery. If your car is often left in direct sunlight while parked, or you drive during the day for work frequently, this can affect the life of the battery as well.

How long will it take to test my battery?

It generally only takes under ten minutes to perform a battery check to industry standard, after which you can be on your way – if you find your battery is in a poor state, we can change it for you there and then – or we can arrange a time for you that is most suitable.
